Our Sunday 10:30 AM. service of worship always includes prayer in which children as well as adults can participate. Our service also includes singing, scripture reading and reflection, and a sermon in which the pastor often poses questions to the congregation for their response and/or projected visual images in addition to the spoken word.

The music that is played and sung at St. James covers many genres: including hymns, contemporary songs, praise music, jazz, gospel, and spirituals.  During our service of worship you may hear piano, organ, flute, tambourine, autoharp, dulcimer, or drums, a bell choir, or our intergenerational choir.

We have a special place set aside for our children as they join us for the first 15 minutes of worship each Sunday. We call it the “The Zone.”  There are pillows for sitting, chairs and tables, where they can sit and work on an activity that ties in with our theme and scripture for that particular Sunday. Teachers are present in “The Zone” and families (if they wish) are welcome to be there with their children as well, or have their children sit with them in the pew.  The beginning of worship is designed to be child friendly and accessible to readers, as well as non-readers.
