Franklin K. Schaffer has been the pastor of St. James United Church of Christ since January,1993. Service to churches prior to St. James includes St. John UCC of Peotone, ILL, the Pleasant Valley charge in Northeast Pennsylvania, which included Jerusalem UCC at Trocksville and Salem UCC at Gilbert, and the Salem UCC of Gilbert as a single congregation. Frank has a BA degree from Catawba College, a UCC related school in Salisbury, NC and a BD degree from the Lancaster Theological Seminary, at Lancaster, PA. He has also done graduate studies at the University of Chicago Divinity School and the Lancaster Seminary.



Rev. Schaffer has been working with the people and the governing board and groups of the congregation to help the church determine the direction it seeks for its future. These directions include increase in meaningful relationships as members of the church get to know one another more fully, increase in worship attendance and membership, church school programs for all ages and a strong youth ministry. Frank is interested in many phases of local church work. These activities include pastoral care and counseling, worship, preaching, and relating to members of the church in both professional and personal ways.
