About Us

The people of St. James are committed to their faith.  It shows itself, in their desire to grow in their relationship with God and in their devotion to serving their community and people around the world.

At St. James you will find numerous and varied activities and events that will help you in deepening your faith.

• At any given time, you can find at least two groups available to you so you can further understand and practice your faith.  One of these groups meets every Sunday (9:00-10:00 AM) and the others group(s) on a weekday evening.  The latest information about these groups can be found in our Adults section.

• Each week we prepare a set of daily readings with reflection questions.  These readings and questions for reflection help us prepare for and get more out of the Sunday sermon and service of worship.  Visit our Daily Reflections to get this week’s questions and readings.

• Periodically throughout the year we put together theme focused booklets that will help you practice your faith.  These booklets have helped us integrate our faith into our daily lives.  The booklets to date include Table Graces/Mealtime Prayers, Morning and Evening Prayer and the Blessing of a Home.  You can download free copies of these booklets in our Resources section.

At St. James you will find many opportunities to help make this world a better place.  Our contributions to our neighbors in need are both financial and hands on.

Monthly we take up collections of food, clothing and other needed items. Please click on the Newsletter Tab and review the section titled “Mission/Outreach to get a list of the most current needs.

• We contribute financially to organizations who seek to help those in need and we have a fund at the church for those in our community who are in need of financial assistance in order to get groceries or pay their utility bill.  Visit our Mission/Outreach section to see a more detailed list of these contributions.

• As a congregation, we are committed to every active member of our church to volunteer in our community sometime during 2010.  Please visit our "Missions /Outreach" section to find more information on some community organizations and their specific need for volunteers.

The people of St. James believe that “Faith Works”.  Our faith works for us by providing a sense of purpose for our lives, direction when we unsure what to do and comfort when hard times and tragedy comes.  We know as followers of Jesus that we are called to a life of compassion, love and service. We have a faith that calls us to work for the good of all.

The people of St. James believe in and seek to practice the inclusive love shown  in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.  At St. James you will experience “Love Preached, Love Practiced”.  We know and serve a God who has wide enough arms to include all and we do the same.  At St James we realize that there is great richness in diversity and that we are a stronger, more vital and effective community of faith because of it.  Please know that “Wherever you are in your journey, you are welcome here.”

On any given day at St. James you will find God's abundant and amazing love spoken about and practiced. When you are with us you will hear and see: mutual respect, appreciation for each other, words of affirmation and great acts of caring. We hope you will join us sometime.  So, you too can  experience this wonderful community of faith and abundant love for yourself.
